Feb. Meet

Anyone planning or know of a good MINI and/or Euro meet in Feb? Just went to the Euro Meet in San Luis Obispo this weekend, it was awesome! To bad more MINIs weren't there, only 4, including me. Can't wait for the next event. Lets get something together if there isn't one already.

When you decide, don't forget to add it to the event calendar.

Any ideas on drive and/or meet location? Date?

Also, I'm working with the guys who are doing the Charity show in Sunnyvale in May, we need to work on getting as many MINI's there as possible. The show is for new MINI's only, sorry you classic Mini drivers. It isn't judged as of now, but if we choose to put a group of judges together we can get our portion of the show judged.

here's an idea for whoever wants to organize this....

February 22nd seems like a good date, that way there's time to prepare. We could do a coast run down to santa cruz or something.

That dates sounds good to me. How about a Half Moon Bay or Santa Cruz cruise down to Monterey/Carmel area?

Towards the end of March I am going to be in Lake Tahoe, anyone interested in doing something in that area in that time frame?

Feb. Meet

Half Moon Bay to santa cruz is a great drive and the date work for me. Another option is to take Skyline Boulevard from above Half moon bay and take it all the way to Santa Cruz. This goes by Alice resturant down via CA35 to Boulder Creek and Felton. Let me know I'll be there.

How does meeting at the junction of Highway 9 and Skyline/US35 and then driving to halfmoon bay, then south to Santa Cruz? We can stop for food some place along the way. We'll use the 22nd as the date. Still open to more suggestions, and remember, the more peoeple we get the better.

I recommend that we meet at Crystal Springs reservoir on Hghway 92 at San Mateo, then drive to HMB and along the coast to Santa Cruz. Your route above goes through here anyway, but for us from points further north, it would be more convenient to meet at San Mateo.

Good point, never thought of that. You other guys what do you think of this? The sooner we can decide on a date the sooner we can get this posted on other sites and get more people to show up.

I'm afraid I'll have to miss out on Feb 22, but late March around Tahoe sounds fun if we can get enough MINIs together.

Lets try and get that one going to then. The more events the better. My goal is to get a good number of people that in our part of the world so that by the time the ND show comes in May we can have a strong showing and get invited back next year.

Cool

That sounds great to me. Crystal Springs sounds like a good place to meet. If you really want an interesting road, we could go up 92 to 35 then down 35 to Tinitus Creek Road.(spelling ??) It comes out just south of HMB. Then we could motor on to Santa Cruz.

Anyway, It all sounds like good way to spend a day.

OK I'm being selfish here, but would mid to late April be better at Tahoe? I'll be in Italy until the 2nd of April and I sure wouldn't want to miss this event. Also, there'll still be snow on the higher elevations, but the road around the lake should be clear of snow, which will make for enjoyable driving.

Sejanus, since you are in the Sacto area, why don't you take the helm here and organize this event. This would probably be an overnight trip for most of us. Also check out motels and a good place where we can all be for dinner.

I guess I can go up there and look around for some good roads, places, etc in a few weeks. How many people are interested in a Tahoe run in late March or April (or later if that works better)?

Guys,

I can't make it on the 22nd but I have a suggestion for a route.

This route can be started from either Crystal Springs or Hwy 9/Saratoga:

From Crystal Springs take 92 towards Skyline Blvd (35). Turn left onto Skyline Blvd towards San Jose. At the intersection of Skyline and highway 84 (La Honda Rd) is the little town of Sky Londa, a good stopping point. At the intersection take 84 towards La Honda and out to Highway 1. At Highway 1 you can go to either Santa Cruz or Half Moon Bay.

Starting from Highway 9/Saratoga, go up Highway 9 towards Skyline Blvd, turn right onto Skyline Blvd then go to Sky Londa/84/La Honda Rd junction.

I like the March/April Tahoe drive idea.

Let's decide now whether it's going to be HMB to Santa Cruz or Hwy 35 ( the mountain route) to Santa Cruz. I'm ready to email thirty five other MINI owners who attended the Mt Hamilton meet to advertise this one. Seems like there are only about 6 of us inputting our ideas here.

Another important reason is that I would liketo discuss the proposed MINI Club for Northern Calif. See separate topic for more.
