| MINI2 Regular | I talked to a ranger up at Pt. Reyes today and was told that our best bet if we wanted to do a BBQ and are planning a large group we should go to Bear Valley Visitor Center (see map below). The only thing I don’t like about this is that the picnic area is a good distance from the coast. If anyone has any ideas on this, toss them in quick because I want to get this all finalized soon so we can get the word to as many people as possible, so we get a really good turn out. Does Crissy Field work for you guys as a meeting place again? I assume that Larry, you could get the East Bay folks and I'll handle getting anyone from the South Bay there again. As far as a route goes, with a few tweaks the one we did for the Mt. Tam run was pretty nice. I am going to try and get a hold of these new maps today, Mad Maps is what they are called and they have all the back roads not just main ones. If anyone has a good idea for a route let us know. We will also need some volunteers to bring some food items if possible. If you are interested in doing that email me pstewart30@attbi.com <mailto stewart30@attbi.com>. If anyone has any good contacts at any of the local dealers and want to give a shot to getting some items for a raffle that would be great. Mini Mania has already been generous enough to donate a couple of things and is a sponsor of the club. I am not in to good with dealers locally, got my boy out of state, so please if you think you can get us some dealer support, email me at pstewart30@attbi.com <mailto stewart30@attbi.com>I hope by Monday or Tuesday to have the majority of the details out of the way, and just be left with a couple of things to iron out. We need and want anyone and everyone to show up for this run, I am going to start a list of people that are planning on showing up so I have a better idea what to plan for. If you are sure you or going or even just thinking about it, drop me an email and I’ll add your name to the list, again pstewart30@attbi.com <mailto stewart30@attbi.com> Thanks everyone! |

Offline | SCHLICK, I'll meet everybody at eastbay mini. I might even slow it down a little so the S's can keep up. I went to Pt.Reyes a few months ago it was pretty crowded in the parking lots and picnic space was limited. On the road out there is a state park called Tomales Bay state park that I think has more of picnic type area. Check out the map I think its further out toward the coast than the other one. Less windy also. What do I need to bring for lunch? ![]() maybe we could do lucas valley road this time. |

Offline | Wish I could make it. Sounds like things will be a lot of fun but I have to go with my wife on the 12th to pick up her MINI. Then she will be doing her own drive. Sure is going to be hard just being the passenger. Looking forward to seeing the pic's. |

| MINI2 Regular | I talked with the group coordinator at Pt. Reyes and found out good info from her. She suggested two things. If we wanted picnic space, that we should try out Tomales State Park they had more of that type of space. The other option we had was going to Drakes Beach. She said the Parking lot was very good size, and most people don’t go there so we shouldn’t have any problem with a crowd. While I had her on the phone she gave me a permit for a beach fire just in case we decide to have one, and also a group permit for Drakes Beach, both were free. I like the forest setting that we’ve had the last two times, but the fire on the beach sounds kind of fun actually and would definitely be a nice change of scenery for us. I’m open to either way but really the weather I think is what will decide it. What do people think? Larry I’ll let you know on the lunch thing in a few days. We are definitely going Lucas Valley Road this time, well as long as you don’t mess it up this time, just joking!!! Thanks again for helping out, definitely appreciated. |

Offline | April 12 MINI run Hi folks, I got back on Thursday from my Italy trip. And what a trip! But more of that later. Schlick and Larry P., thanks for fielding the ball during my absence. I believe you folks have got it pretty much under control. I agree that Crissy field in San Francisco would be a good assembly point for Peninsula drivers and that the Lucas Valley Rd route is the way to go. Been to Tomales Bay State park: it has a fairly good size parking lot that can accomodate over 30 cars, and has a nice beach/picnic area. I don't remember if it has BBQ pits, so I recommend all to bring their own lunch (unless someone is willing to do the sag wagon food planning bit, but for that one has to know in advance how many are committed to come. For those wanting to go the extra mileage beyond Tomales Bay State Park, the drive to Pt Reyes Lighthouse is great and has great vistas. Schlick, for North Bay MINI drivers, can we have a re-grouping at Lucas Valley Road just off Hwy 101? |

| MINI2 Regular | Dennis welcome back! You can pick a spot to meet up for North Bay folks. Read on for info on more final details. Lunch is actually going to be on Drakes beach, with a stop before at the light house. The permits needed for a pretty large group and beach fire have already been taken care of. Since we are on such short notice on this run, I would bring something to eat that can be cooked over a camp fire type grill, I can also bring a MINI webber bbq if that will help at the beach. Bring ideas for the club again, as always. We will have a raffle in order to raise some money for club expenses. If anyone is willing, donations will be welcome, but by no meanse required. Check back here for a final route and time schedule to be posted by Tuesday evening. |

Offline | sounds like a great day! as for the North Bay meeting point, how about the parking lot just to your right as you exit highway 101 onto Lucas Valley Road / Smith Ranch Road. we can meet there then cross under the freeway and head out Lucas Valley Road (one of my personal favorites!). (type in Las Gallinas, CA in Yahoo for an approximate location) that way people coming from the East Bay can bypass Chrissy Field by taking the Richmond bridge and meeting up in San Rafael. as for the route to Drakes Beach, at the end of Lucas Valley road, we could head north (on the Point Reyes - Petaluma road), stop at the Cheese Factory for a photo opp, then meet up with the Marshall - Petaluma Road, which goes to the coast (and has very little traffic). Then head south on hwy 1 through the fun twisty bits and on over to Drakes Beach. the following map I found gives you a good idea of the area ( http://www.piscesposters.com/russ/vac99/map.html ) BTW, the hike down to the lighthouse involves more stairs then you can imagine. I think I will pass this time! hope to see everyone there! - 2002 MINI Cooper 'S' 1965 Morris Mini Traveller |

| MINI2 Regular | Here is the schedule that I have come up with: South Bay and East Bay meet @ Crissy Field 9-9:30 AM. North Bay pick up @ Lucas Valley Road off of 101 10AM Drakes Beach @ 11:30-12PM I have a route and maps pretty much done, based on input from you guys (Thanks elvis). I will bring maps to Crissy Field as well as Lucas Valley Road. Larry I chose Crissy just because it worked out last time, well once I got the south bay guys back in the right direction after my wrong turn. If you would rather just meet up with us @ Lucas Valley Road that would be fine by me, let me know either way. Guys don’t forget bring something to eat, and there will be a grill and open camp fire available to cook on, I am definitely thinking SMORES!!!! There will be a couple good things at least from Mini Mania our new club sponsore on raffle to raise help raise money for general club needs. Thank you in advance to all who join us this time around, and for those who can’t make it this time, don’t worry there are plenty more things coming up soon. Dinlo thanks for volunteering to help with a website, we should definitely at least talk about it on Saturday. We could absolutely use your help on it, thanks again. |

Offline | April 12 Drakes Bay ride Great! North Bay and East Bay drivers can meet the rest of the SF caravan at Lucas Valley Rd, just off Hwy 101. I'll have map handouts (sorry can't post it online as Microsoft Streets & Trips software cannot convert to .gif or .jpeg) at the Lucas Valley regroup stop. Drakes Beach has a small restaurant, but for those who prefer to get their hamburger for BBQ I recommend going to the supermarket in Pt Reyes Station to get your provisions (we will have to go through Pt Reyes Station anyway, according to our route map) |
