Offline | Norcal MINI run for March 21 We are going up Hwy 160 from Antioch to old town Sacramento alternating sides and going over bridges. Have some lunch,do a little shopping in Sac then drive back along the river on the sides we didn't hit on the way up. THIS IS A NICE DRIVE ALONG LEVEE'S AND THROUGH SMALL TOWNS NOT A SAFE ROAD FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO FLY. So come along for a nice easy ride in the delta and check out the spring flowers. ![]() |

Offline | Old Sac's a bit slim on pizza (except for a Round Table). There are some decent places in the midtown area (roughly about 20 blocks away, which isn't nearly as far as it sounds) Here's a list of potential places. Joe's Crab Shack-Old Sac: Chain seafood restaurant, food is decent, place is big and very family/large group friendly. Best advantage is location, right on the river (outdoor seating if the weather holds) with as good a view as we can muster in these flat, oceanless parts. It's also really close to parking garage so there's lots of parking for a host of MINIs. Streets of London-Midtown: English pub, good food, MINI appropriate beer, street parking but shouldn't be too bad on a weekend lunch hour. Fanny Ann's-Old Sac: Kind of a bar and burger joint, bit of a tourist trap with rough edges. Only ate there once, but the food was pretty good (and I seem to recall the menu was pretty wide, they might even have pizza) and nobody would much care if you had a somewhat noisy group. Near parking structure. Original Pete's Pizza-Midtown: Pizza and Italian, pretty good food, street parking. Club Pheasant-West Sac: Family style Italian food, no pizza, but awesome steak sandwich. It isn't actually in Sac, but not far from Old Sac across the river on one of the main roads coming up from the Delta. Plenty of parking. Hamburger Mary's-Midtown: Fantastic burgers and sandwiches, funky artwork and decor. Decent street parking. Fat City-Old Sac: This one is a more mainstream restaurant, perhaps a bit pricier than what you had in mind though by no means expensive. Food is good with a wide range of choices. Decor is sort of fancy Gold Rush saloon. Pretty popular place. Crowded street parking or a couple of blocks walk through Old Sac to a parking structure. Gotta go teach a class so I'll consult with the wife tonight and post any others I think of tomorrow. |

Offline | Fanny ann's sounds like it might be ok I don't want to drive around sac to much I always lose cars that way. If we all park in the garage and can be together it would be nice . I will also be picking up some raffle prizes for the run. Thanks for the input. |

Offline | Do you have to be a member of Norcal MINIs to go on the run? I'm a member, but I'd like to put flyers on the windshields of some of the MINIs around my neighborhood inviting them to participate -- and I need to know whether they are supposed to join before they go on the run. [Practically speaking, it would be hard to keep non-members away, but they should know whether they are welcome to participate.] Forget world peace -- visualize using your turn signals! ![]() Late 2003 BRG/W MCS from Brian Harris Mini in Baton Rouge, LA now at home in Oakland, CA ![]() |

Offline | Caravan from Berkeley/Oakland? I'm currently planning on going on this run (along with my wife and my 4.5-year old son). If anybody else from SF, Berkeley or Oakland (or others that would take Hwy 24/Caldecott Tunnel on the way to Antioch) is interested in going, we should meet somewhere on the west side of the Caldecott and caravan over to Antioch. I'd suggest meeting in the parking lot of the College Preparatory School, 6100 Broadway, Oakland. The parking lot is a few feet away from an entrance onto Hwy 24, and not too far from a couple of exits. If the run meets in Antioch at 9:00, we should plan on leaving Oakland at around 8:15. Directions to the school, including a map, are available on the CPS website. Look forward to seeing everybody on the 21st! Offline | The new tranny is sweet, smooth at low speeds , takes off nice . I'm just considering it an upgrade . After driving it around for a couple of weeks I'm glad the other one broke. They didn't even open up the other one just sent it back to the fatherland (its not a british part that must be why it broke. At least thats what I told the bmw service techs. ) I think it was the belt that broke it sounded like a retread going on an old pick up SLAP SLAP SLAP THEN NOTHING just like being in neutral . How about a run down the coast to Sanddollar state park like last year on a SATURDAY to make up for the sunday runs ? ![]() |
