Offline | I, too, went out of state. MINI of Murray in SLC, UT. MSRP. 3 months from deposit to delivery. Nice road trip back to CA, too! I was going to order at East Bay MINI in Pleasanton, but had I done that, I wouldn't even be placing my order yet! I wouldn't have my car until after Thanksgiving! As it is, I've been Motoring for 2 months now (see link in sig pics). I would order outta state again in a heartbeat! |

Offline | Got lucky I get my MCS for MSRP in MINI of MV. They f@cked up loan from Chase(chase accept only MSRP, no mark up, and it was too late for dealer to change it, they find it out when I start paperwork) |

Offline | MINI of Concord They were charging $1400 over sticker, but I got $200 knocked off because my MINI was delivered about a month late after getting scratched up at the port (they fixed it before I saw him). SF BMW was charging $1500 over. The only dealer in the area that doesn't charge over sticker is in Pleasanton, and unfortunately their wait period is long (6-8 months). ![]() |

Offline | East Bay Mini - Pleasanton. Paid MSRP for MCS. Although, we did wait 8 month. However, we got lucky because when we ordered our mini we didn't get the Harmon Kardon sound system, but it was in the car when we went to pick it up. So we got the Harmon Kardon system for free. :-) lucky me. |

Offline | Did you really mean to write $4000??!!!! When was that? Also, what was your experience with Eastbay? I thought they seemed like genuinely good guys, there, but I couldn't stand the thought of the 8-9 month wait. What was your wait period like? |

Offline | Ordered Mini from Torrance Around mid-June, I asked all 4 dealerships in the Bay Area... all except Pleasonton had mark ups. But Pleasonton said it takes a year. I was going to order from out of state, but I wasn't familiar with the paperwork that needed to be done, so I called all dealerships in CA and found Torrance, near LA, that sold at MSRP. My original production month was Sept, but it got bumped up to August. Now it's done with production and waiting to be shipped. I should be getting it around the end of Sept. Can't wait!! ![]() |

Offline | me, too Same for me, but I started in mid-July. South Bay Mini (in Torrance) quoted an October production date and my MCS was completed 9/9. I'm waiting for the boat, now.... |

Offline | I took a poll also, and the wait was way too long. I was going to order from Oregon, since a freind got his there, but the wait was still too long. I got mine from St. Louis, and it was at the dealer 7 weeks after getting off the phone, and no markup (if you dont count the $500 floor mats) They would have transported it for $800, but picking it up was way too good an option. |

Offline | Another one for South Bay MINI Just echoing the comments above. I went with South Bay in late Sept. They quoted a Dec. build and late Jan. delivery. However, I just talked to my MA and was informed that I'm in the 44th production week (early Nov.) and I'm hoping to take delivery before Christmas ![]() |

Offline | I ordered From South Bay Mini in early October. My car is at the port of exit. Its interesting that by using the phone (866 ASK-MIN)you get more up to date info than you do on the web. Josh BTW I am in Nor Cal and East Bay Mini (Pleasanton) quoted 8 mos. So I went to South Bay as it is the other dealer in the state that doesnt charge mark - or at least that I could find. |

Offline | Registration + Tax Hi there, I recently placed an order through Sandia Mini in New Mexico (MSRP + 2-3 mo. wait), but am a resident of California. Does anyone know if I have to register my car in both NM and CA? I've also heard that since it's a new car I'll have to pay the sales tax in both states!!! Just wondering if anyone knows a loop hole or some way to get around paying registration and tax in both NM & CA. Cheers, Krista PS- I'm new to all this stuff, so don't judge me on my lack of knowledge regarding purchasing a car! |

Offline | I don't know NM laws, but generally you don't pay their sales tax. If you are driving it away they should get you a temporary tag or movement permit, which are very low cost ($15-25). When you get the car to CA, whether driven or shipped, you will have to get a smog check, then register at DMV like any other car. You will have to pay sales tax there. If NM made you pay tax, make sure that is shown on your paperwork so that you get credit for it. The dealer should know the procedure at their end, just make sure they know if you are going to pick it up or have them ship it. |

Offline | Wow! That sounds like a long wait for East Bay MINI (8-9 months). My current lease on my Audi ends in July and by the looks of it if I ordered something now I wouldn't get it in time before I had to turn in my car. South Bay MINI sounds like an option though...used to live in that area a couple of years ago. I've been debating on a GTI or a MCS but I'm really leaning towards the Cooper. I know the majority of people order their MINI in a desired color/configuration but I'm just wondering if anyone just walks into a dealership and finds what they want. I'm not really looking into getting any extras and besides having a color preference I'd being happy with just a "bare bones" MCS. |
