these mini cars indestructable or something?.....

just photographed this yesterday (not my car) whilst driving about, it was just abandoned there with its lights on. Despite rolling down an embankment it looks pretty much intact, reckon its fixable?

cheers

Crikey, was there no sign of the driver or any other occupants? Given that its been left unsecured with the lights on, I guess there's a strong likelihood that it was stolen? Either way, shame for whoever owned it!

As for fixable... I guess anything can be fixed for a price? While it appears to have held up nicely, there's a lot which can't be seen and it'd probably turn out prohibitively expensive to get it back on the road (especially at 5 years old). You never know though, especially as a category C or D write-off... it may yet live to drive another day!

Not sure about an economic repair but photos like that make me feel just that little bit safer. It has held up very well considering it's been on its roof, not that I'm considering replicating the incident

Not sure about the R56 but R50/53's have 3 times the body rigidity of other similar sized hatches...very strong little units! I won't be testing it like that tho'!

That's BMW DNA for you... they sell the frame parts so you can repair a car no matter how much damage.

About 8 years back when my Coop was in having airbags replaced the guys were showing me an M3. Had a massive hit just behind the front wheel. RH frame of the car was toast and was an "unrepairable" write off. They had it on a genuine M3 jig, stripped down to a bare shell, and part way removing the bent panels and were going to cut away the whole RH chassis frame and weld in a new one, then build as a new car and go through re-engineering.

Estimate was $80k AUD in labour. You'd only bother on something worth a few pennies or an irreplacable collectors model.

That looks impresive. I always feel a bit wary when driving the mini cooper cos of its size but it looks like it can handle it self.

It is shocking that someone would just leave it there.
