hey guys..

ill be in hongkong in about a month or so time.. i was wondering if there is alot of auto shops that supply things for the new mini's..

what are the prices like?
locations, and names of the shops would be good.

ill be staying in mongkok, kowloon.

shops anywhere around there would be heaps easy for me.

Hello,

I've been to HK back in Sept/Oct but unfortunately didn't manage to buy too much parts/accessories for the Mini.

There are general car accessories shops in Mong Kok, near Macpherson playground, i.e. Shantung St, Hak Po St etc. Their prices are resonable for general stuff and as such I bought some lighting stuff there, e.g. white indicators, LEDs etc they are generally half price compared to what you'd have to pay here in Sydney.

I've also been to a Mini specialist called Loong Wah, it's located on Peace Ave / Waterloo Road (on the edge of Mong Kok). They can virtually order any kind of parts and accessories for the Mini across the globe, but I don't find their prices to be too great value especially when you take the cost frieght back to Sydney into account. It's some kind of an eye-opener for me tho (I didn't know there're actually that much accessories for the Mini so I guess it's worthwhile to pay a visit, especially when you live so close to Mong Kok

There's also another Mini specialist called Max Motorsport but it's not located in Mong Kok, and that there seems to be some negative feedbacks recently on various forums.

Max Motorsport is located somewhere in Hung Hum and it's not too easily accessible via public transport. Max Motorsport don't seem to be keen to sell you anything unless they can see your wallet is thick and is dripping $1000 notes (HKD that is) all over the place when you walk in

You'd be better off orderin stuff from the US..and when you go in a month time, that's Chinese New Year and some of the places will be closed for at least a week.

i'd definately go check them out. i remember going to that shop near the playground. i purchased two head units for my old cars back then.. it was extremely cheap back then for the top of the range headunit. lets hope its still cheap!!!

yeh thats what i was worried about.. i remember going a few yrs back, just towards the end of the chinese new yr period. and it was extremely boring as nothing was open.

i asked the travel agent, and they believe last yr wasnt closed for a week... it was only closed for 3 days, and they suspect this yr will be the same. not too sure.. gonna have 2 take the risk, as ive already booked the tickets.

while I was in HK, I saw 2 MINIs on the way from the airport to Holiday Inn Golden Mile and 2 along Nathan Road and 1 parked outside Peninsula Hotel..........number plate incl 113 and 1360 and wondered whether anyone in this forum owns or knows the owners!
