Yes, my mini has a pair of electronic folding mirrors. A kind of MUST item here in Japan.
Please let me know how I can help you.

Do you need parts number ? Picture ? or service instruction?
I will help you as much as I can.
though my dealer never gives me any kind of informaion for DIY. :-(

Mikey, if you manage to get these, you'll be a legend. Aren't these available in China also? also you could get in touch with the folk at GUT-Mini in Japan. www.gut-mini.com they might be able to help you out. Lots of stuff on that site i want but cant get.

Not from Japan, but don't forget the control modules

also you might need the actuator (part 7) in other pic: part number 67 136 910 520, also what about the control wires to control this mirror, you might also need a new door wiring loom?

Out of curiosity, where are the original MINI controls that activate the electric folding mirrors?

Japan Great!

You did it? Great!
The mirrors are really helpful in Japan since we fold down mirrors everytime we park.

I will help you when you want to make another oriental conversion.

There is a small push switch next to mirror adjusting switch.
One push makes mirror closed, next push makes mirror open.
Please see attached picture though it is not good angle to explain.

Interesting. Last year when I took my old '03 MCS in to have the mirror switch replaced because the silver paint was coming off, they replaced it with the one that has the little silver button. The dealership had no idea what the button was for and they didn't seem too anxious to replace it again with the correct part. I wonder how much of the wiring harness is already in the MINI's not equipped with electric folding mirrors and if they would need to be activated in the computer.

Japan

Electric parts manual says only Gulf version and Japan version have powered folding mirrors though I am not sure if other version have them.
Does anybody living anywhere else have powered folding mirrors?

I found my powered mirrors did not close while running (maybe at more than certain speed.)

Curt - I have found no pre wiring
Had to run my own wires from the mirrors through the doors & fit my own module

From what I've heard so far the computer is also different - we don't have the folding mirrors in HK - but we were interested - someone did a bit of research and found that the computer is programed differently - BMW service dept wouldn't touch it. Mike if you can do it bypassing the computer - your going to have major orders from HK !!!
