turbo timer

i have been heard that a turbo timer should be put on a MCS. is it needed for MCS with supercharger? is it necessary to wait for few minutes b/f turning off the car?

Since turbos have exhaust gases passing through them they get quite hot. They also have oil (and sometimes water) passing through them. The timer is to give the turbo time to cool down and prevent oil coking.

The MCS supercharger is belt driven which means there is no exhaust passing through to get it really hot - no timer needed.

Who told you needed one?

Hmmm.
Money has been wasted on more useless things.
I have a turbo timer on my TT RX-7 but don't see the point on a supercharged car.

I will let my MCS run for ideal rpm for 2 to 3 min. especailly after running. Just in case, but I don't think it will need a timer for MCS. My previous MX-6 Turbo did not have it either, but I just let it run for 5 min after a hot day chasing. It really hurt the turbo unit when you turn off your turbo car when it is still hot.

Cheers
By the way, who that MCS owner ?

I have heard that in a turbo case, the temperature is so high that, the turbo propels gets so hot that the change the shape and after a while the turbo will not work, that is why in many cases after running hard a turbo they recomend to have it on on idle for a while.

Wouldn't do any good on the S since the crankcase oil isn't circulated through its bearings.
