Video of mini chasing in twisties

hi everyone.
has been busy lately and not posting anything.

Atlanta MINIs july event last sunday, we took 36 minis into the Georgia Mountains had a cowboy run.

I took some video clips in my car when i try to chase one of the pro racer in the club, He is really fast and a very experienced driver(who i have always try to beat, but never did).

Caution, these videos contains traffic violations/reckless driving scene. parents advice might be needed.

Too bad, The site will be close soon due to limitation of the site. if anyone who has free space can keep hosting the file please let me know. thanks so much.
and.. enjoy the video.

Cool! Took a little while to download but worth the wait!

Thanks for the videos, Chris. Some great roads you have there. I take it the driving on the Tail of the Dragon is similar to those roads you travelled?

During my time in the U.S, I have never visited any of those exciting roads. Now I can only wish to go back in the future to try them out. There are some exciting twisties in Hong Kong but there are much more restrictive in terms of lane width, the amount of traffic, and the monitoring by the local authorities with speed traps / cameras.

scooperman, planning a meet to the famous Stelvio Pass? That's one of the roads I most look forward to driving on.

Twisties and twistie, one of our club member personally went to pick those roads and they are newly resurfaced(wow!)
Dragon is one of the best road for twisties, but there are so many roads around here like that or even better than that. it just that dragon has better road condition than most other roads.

Hey Karman:
"There are some exciting twisties in Hong Kong but there are much more restrictive in terms of lane width, the amount of traffic, and the monitoring by the local authorities with speed traps / cameras."
you should seen how our MINIs dealing with those.
We had MINIs heading with Radar and laser detector and defusers and locals who know the area. we have serveral differernt run groups based on how fast we drive. We also have a police officer who owns a Silver MCS behind me.(haha!) We did 120mph on a straight shot i guess the speedlimit was 35 or 45mph there!(sh*t).
traffic? a lot of cars were shocked by hugh line of MINIs follow behind them, they just pull to the emergency lane and let us pass(which are the nice drivers). for those who think they are tough, we have to pass them from the other lane with horn on, one by one! to show they should pulled over early.

One of the factor we were a little bit crazy on the raod because they have a bikers meet over there, so we are not the one ones racing on the road.

Hope those tips could help on the next event!(hahaha!)
enjoy the video one more thime.

One of the enjoyable things about the states is that there are ample roads for spirited driving. That's great you have scout cars that went ahead to scan the roads prior to the main groups arrival, and it obviously helps that a police officer was part of the enthusiast group!

To be travelling at those speeds in the twisties of HK is simply suicidal as the roads here are much narrower with more varying gradients and sharper turn-in angles. The only chance we get to experience them more freely is during the very non-peak hours duing early morning in the weekends or late nights.

All in all, that's great you get to enjoy those roads on a regular basis. I used to live in the Northeast where we have our fair share of 'fun' roads too, but of course doesn't compare to the Southeast and Western parts of the U.S.

If you ever have a chance, come visit Hong Kong. I am sure many of our members would be happy to show you the roads and share some HK MINI enthusiasm with you.

Thanks for the videos.
/k

Hey Karman
I'm sure i will let you know if there are chances to be in HK. I always wanted to go there, actually i have been there when i was little but can't remember much since that was almost 17 years ago. (god i'm old now).
Hey Scooperman, i'm trying to get a set of password for you so you can download it. it is going to take a while since he is running out of bandwith. I will keep you updated as soon as i get it
