K. Beau, the rear sway bar is great for enhancing the handling of the Mini however it will change the handling characteristic of the vehicle. You will need to re-learned how to drive the car at it's limit after the installation because you might find yourself unexpectedly sideways in the corners . Very unpleasant experience if you ask me! But if you are familiar with it, you could have heaps of fun with it, ie controlable sideways!

My suggestion would be to go for an aftermarket swaybar because the effect is more significant. I think they are going at around 220-250 depend on the brands. I do not know anybody who want to sale their OEM bar at the moment. In future, there might be one though because K. Odd is getting a H-Sport bar. He might want to sale his??? not sure though.

Cheers

K. Mai krub, who's k. Odd krub? Oh i see but where can you get the H-Sport bar in thailand? i'm afraid that the aftermarket one will cause the ride to be too stiff

Even on its softest setting? I thought that it will be quite gradual in its transtion i.e. no more understeer but more neutral turn in (on the softest setting I mean) Well, if it's that dramatic then I might not consider it so soon (better to attend Singha Racing school before trying this piece of kit out!! ) Might be a very bad idea to let the wife drive it if it's fitted with the Rear Sway bar.....could be a handful

K Beau, is your car not a MCS already krub?

If she always drive at the LIMIT . The lowest setting is probably not too bad at all. Good for high speed stuff or daily driving. I have mine set at middle/high setting (one in middle hole another in stiffest hole). Yeah, I would reccomend attending a racing school first to see how your standard set up handle, then do the mod (so you could tell the different).

K. Beau, I don't know anyone who sale H-Sport krub. You probably have to order it from the US, like I did unless someone can order one for you. You are correct the bigger swaybar will make your ride stiffer.

Cheers

Are you there yet K. NobbyS? . We are waiting for you to join our fun.

Me and K. Odd just did a track day at Nakorn Chaisri Yesterday. We both did made some lap time improvement.

K. Odd have just installed a new set of Ferodo DS2500 (highperformance/race pads), Advan AD07 and a rear anti-roll bar (sway bar). He managed to shave off nearly 9sec, however I think it is more of the driver's skill improvement that make such different in lap time. Kudo to K. Odd.

I only managed to shave off 1 sec this time and extreamly happy about it, I felt at least after a new set of SSR I did'n wast my money for nothing .

Cheers
Mai

It's that hanging around in this web and NAM really get you itchy with your future possible mods on the car.I'm sure you get my point!!

Did you read the Motoring section in Bangkok Post today? Think that the test driver is useless that's why he said that our car is "flawed" hahaha. Good point about the weak brake though!

Hi K Mai..that's really nice of you and K Odd krub. Need a couple of more weeks then I think I will get past the painful first 2k km run in period

I am pleased that you have managed to shave a second off your time, but K Odd really shaved a big portion of his time na krub.

Is the Advan tire that good? I have heard a lot about it but never tried, thought it would be quite noisy for normal street driving...what's your opinion krub? I am considering this one and the new Toyo T1R once my new wheels arrive Just lowered my car with a set of Eibach today, initial impression is good (I know it's not up to your standard lol..but can't live with coilover with this car yet...has Tein Superstreet in my last Evo..nice but a bit too much for everyday driving..must be getting old )

So roughly when is the next tracking event?

Will try my best to join you...really really want to go.

K. NobbyS,

IMO, I think the AD07 is the grippiest street radial in the market and the next best thing to R compound. What would be your new wheels and the size? In TH market, the AD07 sizes that are suitable for the Mini are 215/45R17 and 205/50R16. Both me and K. Odd are running 205/50R16 for track.

The next track day is actually on the 10th Dec. It's the Singha Racing School annual event, the day will begin with some early driving at the BRC (behind Secon) and then rallying to Bira and in afternoon track driving in Bira. Dinner and drinking in the evening at the Ambassador where we would stay overnight. Let me know if you are interested because the space is limited. The Lotus car club and a group of Porsches will be there too.

Not sure how I got that red Mini logo, it's just there since their new web update.

Cheers

Sawatdee khrapp to all 3 of you.

Just found this thread and thought I'd say hello. Was in Bangkok in March and only saw one mini the whole time. Are they quite rare in Thailand?

I was looking at the pictures of NobbyS mini and really like the white stripes on the seats. How did you get those? Were they put in when the car was made or have you added them since getting it?

Hello Judge Cooper S,

There are about 600 Mini's in Th, most of them are in BKK krup. I ran across atleast two Mini's every day krub . I would say they are not rare but rather... unique .

Mr. NobbyS have a JCW limited edition and it came with that interior trim krub.

Cheers

Sawasdee krub Judge Cooper S Thanks for the compliment, Pyugala is spot on I did got them as standard from Mini Thailand. One of the few option they bundle in together with the JCW car. Glad you like them. How is London? was there a couple of months ago for holiday, saw a couple of close school mates...still like it...though very expensive!! Next time you are in Bangkok, give us a shout.

K Mai krub, can I just join the daily activities and not stay overnight? Quite a hassle of staying anywhere overnight once you have two little kids What about the qualification? Do i need to have pass the Singha Racing school course before or can i just go along and drive?

My new wheels are the 17 inches Work wheels (mainly for aesthetic reason ) but they do weight significantly lighter than the web spokes that I have right now. Maybe should consider a set of 16 too for the track event? The Advan sounds ideal!

You can certainly join all of the activities on the day, you do not have to attend Singha Racing School if you are invited by a Student (which you are). The fee is 3500 baht including a Room at the Embassador, 3 meals and track fees. You can stay overnight or not, it is your choice but I'm not sure if they have a special fee just for the daytime activities. We would be delighted to have another Mini joining us.

Aesthetic reson is good enough . K. Odd is using the standard 16" X-Lite. I got 2 set of 16", X-Lite and Ssr Type C. The 16" wheels are lighter and the tires are less expensive, or you could go for 15". Speaking of 17" I really like the look of the Advan RG II.

Cheers

That sounds great. I think I might join you, 3500 is a bit steep just for the track events na krub. Can you tell me who to call or how can I make a booking for this?

Another question about the tyre. Do you get any rubbing with 215/45 17on your car?

Cheers

Can you PM me your fax number and I will fax you the detail tomorrow. I'm waiting to hear from them about the pricing excluding the accomodation.

I do not get any rubbing during everyday driving but if I have to carry rear passenger then the rubbing will be present. It is depend on the offset too, my offset is ET40. If your wheels are more than ET40 like 42 or 45 then you might be safe. The best way to find out is to try those tires on I guess.

Cheers

!

Really wish they did those seats here! They are lovely.

London is VERY cold at the moment. Had to scrape the ice off every morning. Not good. Would much rather be in Thailand!! Where abouts do ur friends live? I'm in South Londn.

Would be good to meet u all when back in Bangkok. Like the sound of the race track training thing!
