The stand alone ECU system has a feature that adds boost dependent on the speed of the vehicle. You can program it to add boost as it goes down the track and still be able to get it to the ground. Once configured it should work quite well.

I love what you have done so far. I can't wait to see what kind of results you end up with.

sorry for sounding rude.

but would you not have been better fitting a 1.8T 20v lump in it, rather than custom build the 1.6.

Where are you mounting the charge cooler radsstil up top or custom front mount

I'd guess the class rules require the "stock block" to be in the car. If not, then the answer for keeping the MINI engine is "because he can" or "because he felt like it". Besides, he has more displacement than a 1.8L VW engine, lol.

Keep up the awesome work El..I mean Kumho Kid

no worries about being rude... I didn't take it that way... IT'S a GREAT question though...

The reason I didn't change the motor is for a few reasons....

1. It needs to be a mini engine in the class I am racing
2. people said it couldn't be done... stroked engine... so I did it
3. It's way cooler when you pop the hood and they see the valve cover that says MINI and everything staring you in the face is MAXI

The intercooler is that big can below my intake manifold. It's a water to air intercooler that will have ice water pumped through it to cool the intake charge from the big turbo

It was good to see you and the car in person, that's going to be such a blast to drive

A very steep learning curve is coming your way

Good luck at Fontana
