Trying to Relocate to Colorado

Hello!

I don't normally post here, though I just got my MINI a few months ago. I just read through the forums from time to time ... so I hope you don't mind me popping in for some personal advice/assistance.

My husband and I have been hoping to relocate to CO since we got married in Estes Park about two years ago. Now, we're ready to really try to make it happen. Because we are both unhappy in our current job situtations, my husband is ready to simply leave by himself, go to CO, stay with some of his relatives, and look for work. This is, in part, because we've really not gotten responses on resumes we've sent out over the last year and a half -- and I think it's mainly because of our location.

I'm wanting to know a few things:

1) Is the job market picking back up in the web development field out there? I know it had declined quite a bit, but I think I've heard it's getting better. Our hope of course, is that if he does this, he won't be out of work for more than maybe a couple of months. But I don't know how realistic that is.

2) My husband is a PHP web/database programmer and Unix/Linux system administrator. (He's very good at what he does!) Does anyone here currently work in this field, in Colorado? Or do you know someone who does? If so, would you be able to send me some contact info for someone who might be able to help us in finding him some work?

3) I myself am a marketing copywriter for an ad agency in Indiana. I've worked with all kinds of clients -- national, regional and local -- in many types of industries. I'd be interested in working as a freelancer or on a full-time basis. Can anyone be of assistance in this line of work?

We're particularly interested in being in the northern half of the state, from Denver & suburbs on up to the Vail and Estes Park areas.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. I'll be happy to send our resumes out to anyone who may be interested.

I hope that I'll get to make the move and meet some of you soon -- I'm quite sure we'll be joining in on MINI drives when we do get out there.

-Beth
