Not sure about 0-60 times, but I caught this video yesterday that saw the steptronic returning better standing quarter times on a drag strip (see from 03:50 onwards).
i believe it is in auto mode with kickdown. the auto is 0.2sec slower to 60, which if the actual manual times are anything to go by, will be more like 6.8-7.0sec. as said before i nother threads, many mags and online auto companies have achieved 0-60mph in as quick as 6.6sec (pistonheads)
Avantone, thanks for the link. That is impressive, makes me assume that the 0-62 figure (7.3) is acheived with the normal auto mode. Already have a MCS auto on order for 25th March delivery, so can't wait to get my hands on it.... Cheers, Mark
Exactly. A quarter mile from a standstill is all about acceleration. If the two cars then continued on to top speed the manual would catch and overtake the auto.
Correct Scrogg....only if they continue the manual will eventually catch the Auto, after all gearchanges are done (since tha Auto changes gears fatser than an average driver). I did a similar test comparing 2 BMW's 330xi, one Auto, one manual (both 5-speed box)...that Auto is faster when accelerating.
But for everyday driving on our roads, you benefit from having better acceleration. The difference in the top speed is neither here nor there, as you will hardly ever need to use it.
