Ireland Annoying clutch return spring noise!

For the last few weeks I have had a very annoying noise from the clutch return spring.
This would drive you bananas as the R56 is so quiet compared to the R50.
Got the dealer to check it out last week and he ordered a new grommet for it. He said this was a 'fix' from MINI.
Got it fitted at my dealer yesterday and its all quiet again
Just in case someone has a similar noise that's driving them bananas too!
Fergal.

Ahh the marvels of searching on MINI2.....

My dealer courtesy car (R56 Cooper) that I have today does this, I'll advise them there is a gromit fix from MINI to cure the problem

Clutch Noise

Cooper (delivered Feb 2007), 5000 miles

Yes the last few days i've experienced the same strange clutch noise, it kinda sounds like a rusty spring!!!

I've also experienced a problem with the passenger window not allowing the door to close, and in the last week the little plastic cover on the handbrake has come loose and comes off in my hand everytime i touch it!

I'll contact the dealer tomorrow but needless to say i'm not impressed :-(

Glad to hear i'm not the only one with the clutch issue though!

My clutch did this for a couple of days about 3 months ago, it stopped on its own and has not returned!

Hey Guys
Im facing the same problem with my MCS 05 ..the clutch seems a little sticky and feels like a rusted spring beneath..Is it a cantilevered clutch or a floor clutch... I 'll be takin it to the dealership tomm. hope he can solve this issue.
The Handbrake cover feels loose on my MCS too..but I dunno if its cz of the way i use it?
Anyone would want to input extended maintenance by MC..is it worth for the price they are asking for additional 2 years..

Same thing happened to my '05 MCS clutch. Final diagnosis: New clutch kit installed (Release bearing, new revised flywheel and clutch disc). Was done under warranty and they kept the car 3 days. The car had 25K miles at the time of the repair. The release bearing in these clutches is made of plastic and overtime it starts to make noises (like a fart when you press the clutch pedal). The problem is that the release bearing eventually fails, leaving the clutch pedal stuck on the floor

Get it taken care of as soon as possible. Remember, you need a brand new clutch kit.

Don't think the above 2 posts are related to my problem in my SECOND GENERATION MINI.
