MCS Engine noise when cold

Well I have mine back now and all seems fine (touch wood...)
Think this weekends snow/hail forecasts will be a good test

Just waiting for a complete sunroof assembly under warranty and my car should be perfect

Yes, Ceasar, I believe you're right. But I still don't know why they wanna do something with the turbo fittings on my car to remedy the rattle... 2 weeks 'till they had the chance to see my car though... And the rattle wasn't there today...

BAD NEWS....

after the latest fix, mine has started again.....

left in flat garage all day for 18 hours without starting, started up, 6.5˙c outside temp and noise was there at about 1500-2000rpm as usual.

This was supposed to be the fix, so what happens now?
Dealer read my a long list of parts that were fitted, all sorts of valves and lifters but this really has not made any difference. Am quite disappointed now
Where do we go from here?

It has got to be a oil starvation problem for sure.

BTW: temp was 4 deg, in garage, level surface.

The problem appears to be related to weather conditions. A week or so ago someone posted this topic was quiet, at the time the weather was springlike. Now the opposite applies and the 'noise' problem has returned. Is this a clue

Oh joy ( it may be short lived though). For the first time in 6 months I had a car that sounded nothing like a diesel when I started it this morning.
It was 5 degrees C and it was parked in its normal......., ah, hold on, it wasn't in its normal place. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
In addition, I had a knocking sound on the passenger side, they diagnosed the strut top mounting and replaced it, obviously with a noisier one than I had before
Its a good job I love my MINIs.

Took mine in this morning and they couldn't replicate the noise apparently so I'm going to record it and then give it to them on a cd . I think that is probably just stalling tactics if they know about the fault officially

I had all that last year, the best thing you can do is record/video on your camera/mobile. Nobody can dispute it then.
