Could this just be an adjustment issue. If the bungs are out too far then they'll bend to suit. Has anyone tried adjusting them inwards ( shortening ) without going too far and having a rattly tailgate. Lordy, you might have to do this, to make up for the thickness of the velcro pads. 57 Plate R56 PW/B MCS

hey thanx for this just checked mine and one of my clear disks have come off and the other is getting really close noticed that the stud on the tailgate was bent to one side also so ive twisted this around to get it pointing in to the car instead of towards the body work.

Mine came off the day I got my car I bought some replacement from a local hardware shop and they did not last long either, so I decided to leave it without any protection.A month has passed and so far no problem on mine, at least the last time I checked. I believe anything will not be a permanent solution as when the rear hatch closed, it closed in an angle, meaning in the long run it will shift any type of protection adhered.

Yep, popped into the dealer on Friday arvo & that's exactly what they said - they just twist in & out of the body but are designed to apply pressure back on the boot to stop it rattling seems Nearside factory line operator has been saving themselves from a wrist RSI by not twisting them in enough ... My dealer wil respray under warranty ...

Well, it's been a couple weeks now. In and out of the hatch at least a couple times a day. So far, so good. My right "pad" is in place and tight. A little snowflake/star shaped indent where the rubber bumper is resting. The left side has pushed the left/upped lip down and in about 2mm but shows no sign of detaching from the body. I screwed the bumper in one full turn and after a day there's a snowflake/star shaped indent dead center on the pad. Once I'm sure it's not shifting around or rattling, I might replace that left side again (darn, out $1!). But I thing this is going to work pretty good. In the next week I'll replace the discs under the hood, too (as those have shifted as well). So far, I would recommend the velcro pad route once your car is re-sprayed. ![]() Founding member of R56 Anonymous: "Hello. My name is Mike. I'm a driving enthusiast... and I still like the R56"

After the car has been in 3 times for the so called paint work ( via service ) , it looks like the body shop have never seen the car, and i have now collected the car again, and e-mailed the dealer the pics of the tailgate. as they have to send it off to MINI for a warrenty claim , HOW CRAP is the dealer !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3 times in and bull sh*t me all the way, if they say no !!!!!! the car is going down to the dealer and sitting out side the sales forcourt ( not service ) with a sign in it saying " dont buy your car here they lie to you !" Bl**dy idiots !!!!!!!!! either until they paint it , or the tax runs out on the car , Oh and i mean it !!!!!!! Japper thanks for the note above !

The velcro discs (soft side) that I tried seem to be working well - adjusted the rubbers so that they sit central on the 45mm dia pads. Door is tight - doesnt rattle - fit is actually better now and the pads look like they should from BMW. (£3.49 from Halfrauds)

The sticky clear pads on the previous mini were much thicker and much better quality. But the r56 things are so poor. Problem on both my S (which has gone) and my wifes new cooper. I put on motorcycle ones and they seemed to do the trick but lets see what the dealer does for the cooper. Mini Dealers seem to be rubbish.
