the little discs are there, but the bung has gone out of shape and has been hitting the side of the body work, i have tried twisting the bung around to change the angle it hits the bodywork, but it has just gone back to hitting it , the door fits well and there has not been any problem with it either .

On mine the little plastic circle on the one side has shifted out of position, can these be changed at the dealer then? My paint isn't getting rubbed though (yet!). mind you my husband's Seat Leon has the same plastic circles and his have shifted too. Must get him to get them changed.

Just been and had a look at mine. Same problem ![]() Mine's on the near side only (Lordy you said offside but your photos show the nearside is affected??) and the rubber bung is bent also, just on the near side. Let me know how you get on at the dealers, I'll be interested in what they have to say.

Is it actually rusting? I'm wondering if what you are seeing is just dirt trapped in the adhesive discs rather than real damage? I say this because the photos of the rubber stoppers show them to be clean? ![]() FWIW - when I had an R56 Cooper, the rubber stops were bent almost 30 degrees away from being 'straight'. I thought it was a bit naff, but it didn't seem to be doing any damage.

Took some pics of mine. The paint is coming off to the left of where the plastic circles should be (I say 'should be' as there aren't any on mine!). You can see the white on the pics where the paint has worn away. The plastic circles wouldn't make any difference, I don't think, even if they were there as I can see where they should go and the paint has come off in a different area.

My main problem is the nearside ( ie near the pavement) there is no rust , but there is paint rubbing off, i found out yesterday that the rubber stops actually twist in and out of the tailgate ( to give min and max adjustment) , and these are used to align the tailgate and also to stop any rattles with the door, as they put back pressure on the lock when closed. they are still waiting for the body shop to come back to them , to say what they are going to do ?

My nearside rubber stop was bent over slightly from new. I turned it 180 degrees to bend the other way. Since then it has straightened up and been alright. These clear plastic circles are a bit cheap and dont seem to stick very well. The one under the bonnet that aligns with the switch missed completely on mine. I replaced the clear plastic circle with one cut out of black insulation tape ( two layers ) so that it aligned with the switch to protect the paintwork - I have had to do this on several cars.
