Gutted http://www.mini2.com/forum/2nd-gen-f...ing-light.html Seems I'm not the 1st afterall. I guess I will still be the 1st @ Woodmans. After reading the thread above it looks like its not going to be the 5 minute job I was expecting ![]() Dave DS R56 MCS + JCW AERO KIT

Your not alone our car has been at the dealers for two weeks and we just learnt it will be two further weeks and BMW are telling dealers not to fit the old type airbag wait for a new one. The dealer also has another owner with the same problem. They have provided a loan car which they are exchanging for another today so I suppose the only positive is our car will have had less milage.

Took my car in yesterday, MC Dec 06, for this & a few other things. Was told that they needed to order all the parts, so i have now been re-booked in for 1st Oct with a new ONE as a loan car for that week. The guy i delt with said all bits should be in then. I am not convinced that the airbag will be in though due to what i've read on this board. I'll have to wait & see what happens. Got my car from what is now Cooper, Norwich but are dealing with Sorensons, King's Lynn.

Well as far as I'm aware I don't actually need a "new airbag" the fellas @ woodmans managed to install a part in my car to sort the problem but when it came to coding the onboard computer to remove the error that is stored it said the chassis numbers didn't match so it rejected it!! I was told to expect a phone call in a week to see if they can get hold of the part with the correct number on it!! Fingers Crossed!! I'm in good hands with Woodmans tho!!!! Seems funny how this problem seems to have occured to others at the same time!! Mine is a Jan 07 build? anybody else?? Dave, DS R56 MCS + JCW AERO KIT

Airbag My car was in about 6 weeks ago due to the airbag warning light coming on and staying on. The garage could find no reason why, ran the diagnostics, and reset the computer. They thought that something jammed under the seat may have caused it (there was nothing jammed under the seat at any point). One week later.................the light comes on again, so the car will need to go back in and I suspect they will find nothing, and will reset it again. Add to this that the car was in about 4 months ago due to a major engine warning light (guess what, the diagnostics could find no reason for that either).................and you have to wonder about the technology on this car

My old-style mini had the air-bag warning light re-set so many times I lost count. I was hoping it wouldn't be a issue any more! Apparently on the last car the fault was caused by my using the rear passenger seats. Hmmmmm. Or maybe my problems were also due to an invisible object getting wedged under the seat...

Thought id give you all an update. Took my car in this morning & was told the air bag unit has not yet come in. I thought this might happen due to the things i've read about on here but i'll have to wait & see what happens at the end of the week. It might suddenly turn up you never know. ![]() On a brighter note they gave me a Cooper S as a loan car! With lounge leather! It's brill and the lounge leather is so comfortable. I've never driven an S before but im really enjoying it. Brand new as well, 57 plate with only 600 miles on the clock. Avalon is there an update on yours? Is it still at the dealer?

| Cheers for the update, I'm not sure whats happening with mine, I have just come back from a week in Turkey and I've heard nothing from my Dealer since I took it in to be fixed a few weeks ago. I'm guessing that its a nationwide problem trying to get hold of the bits n bobs to resolve the problem. ![]() Wish I could have been given a Cooper S Courtesy car, I was given a MINI One with that crazy engine cut out option on it!! | Mine came on stayed on coz i though ou S**T i got no airbags now, took it to dealer on the monday and they sed well erm we can try and fit it in on friday if not it will be next week some time, and theres me think if i crash am screwed. anyway friday came took it to the garage bout 3 hours later got a phone call cars ready you can pick it up wen u want. got there they sed nothing wrong n reset the comp and its not come on since |

I am guessing it must be a nationwide problem as well. I've read on here somewhere that there is problems with getting parts. Don't know how true that is. I was originally down to have a ONE but they took me out to the car this morning & was completely shocked that they where giving me a Cooper S. I nearly tore the service woman's arm off to get the keys! Also Dave what is this cut out option? Heard about it, but not sure what it is. (Sorry for going a bit OT) Matts Mini Adventure:- I know how you feel. I had to drive my car 2 & 1/2 weeks before i could get mine booked in. It was because they said it should give them enough time to get all the parts in, which is a laugh now cause they don't have the air bag unit. Seems a few of the dealers are resetting the system, but then the light comes back on after a while. But i hope that resetting the system cures the problem for you.

Now been seven weeks and still no news of fitting a replacement airbag. BMW UK told me that the problem has been compounded by changing vendors due to the previous vendor not keeping the correct quality. They said re-fitting to existing cars is not the same as fitting to cars on the assembly line a point my dealer disputes I say this because I asked why existing customers were waiting so long whilst new cars continued to be produced at the same rate. BMW must be paying through the nose for the hired cars whilst owners wait for replacements but this kind of service from a premium brand is simply not good enough and will affect BMW and the MINI brand the longer it goes on the Japanease and Koreans whilst producing some dull cars dont suffer with these issues.

Sorry for the delay in replying, The engine cut out option is the "mystery" button thats situated next to the sport button in the car, basically when your coming to a stop and knock the car into neutral and brake, the engine cuts out (apparently to save fuel) I wasn't aware of it until I was sat waiting for the lights to change & I thought god this engine is quiet, as soon as I pressed the clutch down it kicked in (frightened the life out of me )On the Airbag issue I've heard nothing ![]() Dave, DS R56 MCS + JCW AERO KIT

JOnesy, if you don't like the Stop/Start you can disable it with the button you mention. I believe that you have to deselect it again every time you begin a new journey. My personal solution is to keep the clutch pressed in if you know you are only stopping for a brief time.
