high battery discharge message

Hi all,

had the MCS for a week - love it!!!

its a March 2007 build 3000miles

A couple of times i have had 'high battery discharge' displayed on the panel and the little picture of the mini up on the ramps on the rev counter display when i turn the ignition on in the morning

turning it of an on again clears it and the car runs fine. I dont really want to visit the dealer if it is a common/known/minor problem (i will end up buying more bits!!)

any thoughts?

cheers
davem

Always best to check with them... You don't want your car failing you...

Davern, check that the earth lead that connects the engine to the chassis has it's bolts tightened up properly.

standing looking at the engine, it's on the left hand side, is about nine inches long and is bolted to the engine and chassis.

I had that problem and resulted in a callout to the breakdown engineer who spotted it.

The car on the ramp on the rev counter when you turn the ignition on is giving you the mileage until its next service. My mcs does this everytime I start the car then reverts back to mph reading on starting the car, its a reference point for servicing as the dealers will only service the car with less than 1000 miles to go or -1000 miles over the set mileage, the high battery discharge light I dont know.
