Cooper D - Cooling Fan on in freezing temperatures

Hi,

Driving last night this morning in freezing conditions at a gentle pace, the cooling fan is coming on. Sounds like a hovercraft. This can't be right, or is it normal?

I had this few weeks ago, the temperature was reading about 5oc and I was doing the same journey home that I do every day. I couldn't believe how loud it was!

Although it hasn't been on since!

Mine's done it once or twice - after a while it switches of, so I have assumed that it remained on for a reason.

My other half has had this problem too. Got into cold car, on cool day and drove about 5 miles at 30mph. Why would the fan come on? It really is noisy. My Dooper hasn't had this problem - phew!

My Dooper did the same today...was 3 degrees outside, only had a short trip too. Second time it;s done it. It never did it in the 'warm' weather back in Oct. Sounded like the engine was gonna break
Worth getting the workshop to take a look?

Did any of you have the aircon switched on at the time? Remember on cars with climate when you leave it at auto it's on all the time, has a fan that comes on from time to time.

In my case, the aircon wasn't on.

Just drving the same journey that I do every day at the same speed.

I'm pretty certain that I've only heard the fan on twice since I collected the car.

Air Con NOT on in my case either - the dealer asked the same question when we mentioned it, and were surprised this happened without the Air Con on.
