Ok so here's a little update for you. I now have to just sit and wait. Grassicks have said that the area manager for Scotlands BMW Mini repair will come in every month or two and I will just have to wait.

So my dash has almost stopped rattling, but now my passenger seat is and also my drivers side door. Not only that my gears are starting to stick and it's going in for a third time on thurs for it.

Any advice on how to handle getting this repaired as I feel that I'm stuck with a bit of a lemon? Does anyone have the complaint number or e-mail for Mini?

Thanks, Ferengo.

Hi Daro911. Thanks you so much. The car goes in tomorrow, so if all doesn't go well then I'll be giving them a call. Thanks, Ferengo.

White Cooper Hi

My clubman has a rattle somewhere on the dash and I think there is one around the windscreen when you hit a bump also a rattle on the door and an intermittent one in the roof will have to make an appointment i think

[My rattle in the middle of the dash was fixed today after 3 visits to the BMW garage. At the end they fitted a new speedo and the rattle is now gone. Magic but took 4 mts to get there. FeFe

Lost count of how many times my Dooper has been in for rattles . I always justify it by the fact my courtesy car is always silent, so mine should be also. Had rattles in roof, boot, rear seat belts, B pillar, gear stick, steering column and loads on various bits of the dash. Got a BMW 3 series as a courtesy car once, and it seemed a lot better built

- I had a Citroen for a couple of years (oh the shame ) but its build quality was vastly superior to the MINI .
Took my car in for more squeaks last week, but refused to do it whilst I was at the dealers - why does this always happen?!!! The rattles are back now - typical!

I got my Cooper D delivered 12 days ago (Denmark, LHD). I've driven about 1.600 km, and noticed a rattle today coming from the passenger side dashboard. It comes when driving at about 3.000 rpm (sport button on). Very irritating - i guess i will have to get the mini dealer to look at it?

I have not had much luck so far.

The car has been in and hurrah!!! the Gearbox and rattle were fixed but.... 2 weeks later the rattles have started again, only this time worse.

They said they tightened everything up, attached the loose cable to the steering column and replaced the hinges on the glovebox.

Now not only do I have my rattles from before but It creaks on the steering column every time I go round a roundabout.

I have called the dealer and refused to let the car go in until they come up with a soultion and they agree, but over a week now and still no word.

Anyone got a fix for this yet as BMW haven't?

Picket up my Cooper D a couple of days ago and am being driven insane by a rattle in the dash at about 3,000 rpm. Is this a waranty issue to have sorted, or will it cost? I already spent a small fortune on the spec i wanted and am dissapointed that it is not 100%!

Any advice greatfuly received.

Thanks.

the problem with interior rattles is that most of them are built in at the factory.

to fix them a mechanic has to strip the interior parts..........trim, dash, instruments, etc
( and then put it all back together )

this is a hit or a miss at the best of times, and in most cases the car will come back to you worse than it went in !!

it takes these trained mechanics ( and I use this term loosely ) all their time to do a basic service on your car without messing it up, so imagine what they are like stripping out your dashboard !!

I had a few rattles with my cooper, but I just learned to live with them, but it certainly makes me think twice before I'd fork out 22K for a JCW !!

shame..................

Hey,

If you bought it new or it's less than 3 years old then it will be fixed under warrenty. I forgot to post that I got my passengers side rattle fixed. It was put in to get spotlights fitted and it came back without any rattles. So I guess it's something to do with the panels on the left side as they need removed to put the cables in.

Where about in your dash is the rattle? Does it stop when you go above a certain RPM? I had a lot of time spent on this so you can PM me if you want with the details and I'll help as best I can.

Ferengo.
