Question Metalic squeak from rear end

Hi guys,

500 miles on my Clubman S and loving it.

Only issue so far is a very annoying metalic metal on metal sort of squeek from the rear end, audible in the car at all speeds. Seems to be caused by flexing (so changed in camber of road or bumps on one side not the other).

I've tried making sure the rear seats are locked in properly and nothing is lose in the boot, but to no avail.

Before a trip to the dealers, anyone got any ideas?

i'm getting a squeak from the rear left handside (petrol filler cap side), it started the otherday just after i'd filled in the post marketing survey and answered '' No'' to the question about squeaks and rattles.
It came after i'd had the back seat down for moving some garden waste to the dump. As far as I can tell it only happens when the seat is up, so I assume its coming from the latch mechanism, - but need to do a bit more driving to be sure.

I had the same type of squeak on my MCS at the rear. Not sure if yours is the same but I put some electrical tape around the metal loop that the rear seats clip into when they are up and it has stopped the noise.

Mine sounded like metal rubbing on metal.

Mines a metal on metal sound, but only around speeds of between 65-80km, and only every now and then.

Thanks Pep! The electrical tape solved my problem... i've been going insane the past week since picking up my car. I called the dealer but they had no idea what was what. So thanks again

dealer has confirmed it's the metal clip holding the rear seats up. They're installing a new clip. If that doesn't work I'll go for electrical tape.

Glad it wasn't anything in the mechanicals...

Have MINI now got a fix for this or shall I get my electrical tape out?
