Unhappy Under 1000kms Rough Idle! 2008 Cooper S

I can't believe this happen to me.

Took a drive down to the U.S. today. I was driving it gently of course cause I'm breaking it in. Anyways lining up back to Canada at Pacific Truck Crossing, my Cooper S starts to idle rough and bogging up and down almost stalling. I manage to nurse it back across to border and had BMW road side tow it to Richmond MINI.

Check engine light did not come on until I pulled over, shut her off, and turned her back on (2 tries until it turned over and rough idle again).

Not a really happy customer right now. Does anyone here have any idea whats wrong with it? It's a brand new car!

Could be a number of things to be honest. The most common culprit could be bad gas....

Our Cooper had a not to dis-similar problem - The idle was really really low, and when pulling away all it wanted to do was stall. Also picking up through the rev range was really rough and not smooth at all. The EM light then came on, then it was diagnosed as an air intake solenoid problem Which meant it was running too lean, ie taking in more air than petrol. The car was only about 5 months old at this point, and had less than 4k miles on the clock.

Hope this may be of some help,
Ollie

Unhappy

Update:

MINI Richmond diagnosed the problem, all 4 cylinders were misfiring. They are waiting instructions from MINI Canada on how to proceed.

I don't know what's going to happen. I hope no permanent damage was done, if not, I want a brand new car!

having a problem cranking in the morning, runs rough and dies, after restarting 2 to 3 times,it cranks and runs normally, except for less than average fuel economy. been doing this a month with the check engine light on, we had scheduling problems getting it back to the dealer which is 120 mi away. we got it to the dealer last fri. it was running normally when we arrived. they couldn't find anything wrong with it,the computer said it was misfiring, but they said it just got confused, they reset the computer and said i should'nt have anymore problems. drove the 2 hrs back home, got up sat morning, same problem, cranked and ran normal on 4th crank.took car back to dealer mon, after calling ,and getting approval, this time they say i put bad gas it and will cost me 1100 to flush the system out. has anyone out there ever seen gas be bad one minute and good and run normally the next?i feel i'm getting the shaft ,anyone got any sugestions, they say anymore damage will not be covered by warranty. this is a 07S w
ith 20000 miles
