It should all be sorted now!

Last week the manager of National Windscreens in Aylesbury came out to inspect the car.. he wasn't at all pleased with how the car looked and I was told they'd be ordering me a new windscreen and new A pillar trims and do the entire job again. They also needed to order in some clips for the trim around the top part of the windscreen in each corner. While they were looking at the car, they were able to fix the deal seal problem which was good. I was also told that I wouldn't be paying for any of this work/parts, just what I wanted!

Yesterday morning the same guy that came out the week before turned up on my doorstep bright and early ready to do the job again. This guy was really helpful and very apologetic again for the horrible job the other guys had done. Within 5 mins of him getting started, he called me back to the car and said there was a problem! apparently the A pillar trims they ordered in aren't the right ones for the car which is why the one on the passenger side didn't fit! He told me that he'd have to take my chasis number to make sure they get the right ones and come back tomorrow

An hour later and he was finished, the car still looked in a bit of a state but that was due to the A pillar trims and clips not being there.

True to his word, the guy came back today and finished the car off!! It looks perfect again! And when driving there is now no wind noise or breeze coming through the top passenger side corner!

I'm still going to be sending a letter including all the pictures to my insurance company, as this shouldn't have happened in the first place!!

Include a picture of the final good result too - just so it's a balanced account and the insurance company knows that the car has now been sorted.

All the best,
Andrew.

I had a problem a few weeks ago with National Windscreens fitting my windscreen on my R50 Cooper. Bodged the top, like yours, snapped an A pillar cover, then tried to deny it and worst of all, scratched my new windscreen.

Did the same as you and complained to the manager. They replaced my windscreen and pillar covers, but only after a week of ringing.

Glad you got your sorted in the end.

They messed up my windscreen too!

Buch of cowboys. Unfortunately I've left it a bit long to complain now so will have to do it myself.
Pleased you got it sorted.

Being in the industry / trade, I hear (and see) a lot of shoddy/careless/poor workmanship. Although I'm not surprised that a 'national' company has technicians who work to such shocking standards - and in this case there were two of them? (calling them technicians is giving them far too much credit).

Good to see there was finally a happy ending, but it should never have been left in such a state. Anyone in the trade that refers to a bonding agent (used to directly glaze glass to metal) as "putty" should be shot repeatedly with a potato bazooka.

Baffoons.
