I have had this fault on my 57 plate. I took it back to the dealer and they tried several things (as it wasn't cured the first time)

I had thought that it might be me setting off the comfort opening, so when I found it on my drive with the doors unlocked, I locked it, carefully carried the key indoors, and put it down without touching the buttons. Next morning, the windows were down. Clearly it was a fault.

Firstly the dealer replaced the passenger lock mechanism as this (although not showing a fault) was recomended by BMW.

Secondly they checked everything, said they couldn't find a fault, and did nothing.

Then my fob stopped working! as it was less than 6 months old, and has a rechargable battery in it, (which is charged whenever it is put in the ignition slot) I had it replaced under warranty.

Finally, when the windows opened again, the dealer downloaded the latest driver software to the car. it seems (fingers crossed) to have cured the problem. (this was a couple of months ago) (I see that ferengo above had the same, so reassuring that it seems to have cured the fault).

I think that I am lucky as my dealer is always willing to give things a go, although I understand that not all dealers will do this.

It is apparent that BMW are aware of the fault, so if your dealer appears unaware, try this with them.

We've had a window problem twice in the last month in a our dooper. On both occasions after locking the car we ve noticed that both windows have dropped approx 10cm, the car being still locked. On the first occasion we noticed it almost at once and the second time it occurred whilst parked at work whilst i dopped into the office for only a couple of mins. Agian on the 2nd occasion the car was locked but both windows had dropped 10cm. Any ideas??

If your car is still under warranty, then I'd get it back to the dealer, and quote my post above. It sounds similar to my problem.

hope it helps.
