Gearbox Linkage recall? MINI ONE

Hi,

Had a phonecall from my dealer today saying their is an outstanding recall on my car, June 07 MINI ONE. Something about a linkage in the gearbox that needs replacing due to a recall.

He's booked it in for a week on saturday,

Anyone else had this?

I'm not sure what it's about. My gears are quite stiff but I've gotten used to it.

He said it's only half hours work?

I searched the forum but couldn't find a topic about it.

Hi Craig,

Just had a call from my dealer, my wife has a Cooper. I was told there is a quality control recall, I think he said it was a replacement gear selector clip, it could be done while we wait. Sounds like the same thing as yours. My wife's Mini has the crunchy gear gear problem 1st and 2nd in cold weather, I asked if this was related but didn't get any positive response on that, so I'm really not sure.

I would think there must be lots of others, I'd like to know the technical reason for the recall.

I have difficulty getting my May 08 One into 1st and 2nd sometimes. It just feels extremely stiff, and you have to put a lot of pressure on it to get it in gear! Is this the same issue you have been having?

It's a Mini Adventure.

Hi Troy,

The gear chnage with ours is generally ok. Its just in cold weather the gear change into 1st, 1st to 2nd is notchy until the car is warmed up.

Hi Craig, my mini one is difficult to get into second gear, so I am interested in knowing what the recall was for as my dealer does not know of any recall for the mini one. My mini one was first registered Oct 2007. What did the garage repair / replace? Any info would be useful for me to feed back to the dealer who is due to look at the problem very soon. Ta
