Basic bluetooth and programming numbers

Hi guys, I'm new to the site and new to MINI. I picked up my 08 Cooper D on Wednesday and have managed to pair my phone ok but can't get any numbers from the phone book and would like to know if I can program them manually. I have basic bluetooth and the standard sport steering wheel with standard stereo, no Nav. I don't have any manuals with the car with regards to the bluetooth and can't find anything in the user manual. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

What type of phone do you have?

Can you dial a number on the phone using voice dialing? Since you don't have the factory nav system, you should be able to add numbers using voice tagging, but if the phone isn't compatible with the Mini it may not get you any further.

Curious if your cell works with the Second Gen MINI?

I have the parrot system in my Mini and for me to get the numbers from my phonebook I had to change the bluetooth settings on my phone, because there is some sort of privacy setting on the phone. Once I did that it came up fine, but takes a while to load up though!

So just try and change your bluetooth settings on your phone and see if it works!!!

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your help guys. I have managed to get my motorola L7 to show phone book details but Samsung Tocco F480 won't show anything in the A-Z option. Have tried every setting on my phone but with no joy. Unfortunately I don't have voice dialing on that phone either. I thought you would be able to save a name and number in the A-Z option like you do with storing a radio station??

Nope- the car doesn't actually store the address book, it's pulled from the phone on each time they connect by Bluetooth. Recording a voice tag on the car is the only way I know of to manually add any phone related information.

Just as a side note, your phone doesn't need to support voice dialing in order to record the voice tag in the car- the car actually handles the the voice dialing and dials for you using the Bluetooth connection. So, if the car can get the phone to dial, you may still be able to get it to work for you.

The Samsung phones tend to be hit-or-miss, the majority of the ones that work are running Windows Media 6.1.
