Hey, had my S for 9 months now (from brand new, 58 plate) its got just under 11,000 miles on it and over the last 2 months i've been hearing a rattling coming from the rear of the car. Just over the weekend there it's actually gotten worse, i've had the parcel shelf out and driven without it, had the rear seats down to see if its any of these things causing the noise but it's not?? it's going in on Friday for them to have a look at it. it's SO annoying.
Also, don't know if anyone else has had this problem. But just last night I filled my tank right up and I usually get around 50 miles out of the first bar of fuel, I only managed to get onto the motorway this morning and the first bar light went out!!! I had only done 10 miles??!!!!! This is the 2nd time this has happened, wonder if anyone else had this?
Would my car not crab or have vibration in the steering if that was out? All wear is even on all my tyres, rattles only seem to happen going over the bumps and dips on the damn crappy scottish roads and mostly at low speed (below 30ish)
ah ok thanks, sorry, not the most bright (yes i am a woman but don't hold that against me) I guess I will just need to find out on Friday. But talking of the tyres, I'm not too keen on them, they are Continental's they came on the flame spokes and I don't like them compared to my old 18" Dunlop's on my old cooper. Hope its not something major, thanks for info anyway!
I had my rubber bushings replaced front and rear. Shocking really that these shold be making noise after only 17k miles on my car! Now, only at the weekend I noticed another noise coming from the driver's side - this time more of a squeak/knock noise - could this be the anti-roll bar link rods going Chris?
I'd listen to Chris. I've had the same problems as you've been having; whereas I've had my car since March 2007. Mini garage had done all the usual fixings to see whether the rattling noise had stopped (i.e. taping fabric tape to the rear seating clips, etc), but its still there. Well, sometimes, only when I go over fat sleeping policemen.
In regards to the fuel consumption, I would highly doubt that it'd be anything to do with the tracking or the tyres. I've had this a few times, somedays after filling up, I'd get more mileage from the first bar and on others, I'd get less. However, with 10 miles only.. Definitely worth mentioning to the garage on Friday.
