Problems with tires and brakes

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone else has the same problems as me!! Currently I have r56 cooper s with r105 wheels with bridgestone run flats and standard cooper s brakes. Basically pretty much everytime I take the car to mini garage they either say I need to new brake pads and/or tires! As you can imagine I am wearing pretty thin with them as it isn't a cheap process and if I take it some where else like kwik fit they say the tires and brakes do not need replacing. I admit I do drive the car hard sometimes but it seems every 5000 miles I need new pads and tires! My car is currently in the garage having wheels changed over due to corrosion under warranty (one good thing I guess) but they phoned me up saying I needed new tires and they won't move the car or let me drive it until new ones are on due to a split in the tires that were on it originally. They tried to charged me £195 for each tyre!!! I told them to forget it as I knew I could get the tires from kwik fit for £130, which is still very expensive bit apparently they retail for aroud £200? I'm not sure whether it is true or not.

Also he said my brake discs needed replacing bit my pads didn't which I didn't understand as surely the pads would need to go down before the discs needed changing? Or is that me just being a idiot?!

Anyway sorry for the moan but would be very interested to see if anyone else has been or is in the same situaion as me?!

Cheers!

Try going to another Mini dealer to get a second opinion?

I was thinking this but as far as I know the closest dealers are all run by the same group so I'm not sure whether it would vary that much and the other closest dealer is a far drive away so it is a by anjouomg really!!

Thank you or the advice though!!

Go to a mini specialist, BMW just rip you off. The TLC pack I presume you have appears cheap but in the long run it's not if you believe all they tell you.
£195 a corner for tyres, b----cks, dump the runflats and get regular for about £80 yes you'll need a can of tyreweld and a compressor about £20.
Brakes etc, as I understand the R56 is fitted with the JCW R53 kit but not painted red so you must be ragging it to wear them out in that mileage.
Hope that helps !!
