Blue Cooper Mini not liking the cold? or does it have one?

I had a very interesting experience last night with my r56 mcs...

At about mid night i was driving a friend home, firstly i noticed when i got in my car the window didnt drop as normal when i opened the door, which i thought was strange.

So i tried it normally, and it would not move at all!! Frozen solid!
it appeared the electric motor wasn't strong enough to overcome the grip of the ice!

Also while im here, recently i have been finding my brakes have been freezing on. I drive my car (normally), then park it, next time i go to use it, when i initially pull away it has to break the grip of the brakes before it moves...

One other thing iv noticed the cold has also done to my car, new rattles in places that there were none before, and the main l.e.d display takes much longer to scroll through songs and stats about range etc, and when it changes the led's fade out very slowly, and come back very slowly...

Anybody else had anything of similar nature?

considering it was about -2.5 last night according to the car, i thought this was a bit excessive... if it was about -22.5.... i might understand

Im guessing its the handbreak that is getting frozen, I tend to leave the car in 1st gear and no handbreak in very cold conditions, LCD displays do get effected by cold but should soon start working correctly as the car warms up, you can use acf 50 along the top edge of the windows this will help with frozen windows

Cheers i might try some de-icer. I managed to get the window to work fine after a bit of heat from the heater, but i had to open the door, push the window down with my hand quite hard, and push the button at the same time.... was slightly worried that it wasn't going to go back up.... but lifes a gamble, and it did

Any tips against frozen handbrake?
I have a R53 MCS and because of the low compression I need to use the handbrake unless it's completely flat..
Usually not a problem for me since I park in my garage but I sometimes need to park elsewhere over night or for quite a few hours..

I had the same problem with the windows on my MCS 09. But it didn't surprise me, it's normal that things like that happens in sub zero temperatures.
My boot wouldn't open last Friday after i had park my car full of snow in an heated garage. Driving with a wet car in -14 isn't that smart...

The only suggestion for the handbrake is to really leave it off and just leave the car in gear.. it wont ever go anywhere, in fact i would trust the gearbox over the handbrake on any car, anytime!

Glad its not just me, just surprised me because every other car iv had with electric windows has never suffered with this..

I have the same problem with the windows on my company car. And the sliding doors on the Stupid 09 MB Vito keeps on freezing all the time.

And I never use the handbrake in wintertime, you learn that fast here in Norway
