| The Infamous Rattle Hi There,
My new cooper S has developed the rattle we all know about, the car is just out of warrantly (1month), its done 8500 miles - took it to the dealer who put it through a diagnostics check (£67) and it said nothing (waste of time) I told them before it went in its the timing tensioner - so they replaced it with the phase 3 one.
They requested a BMW good will for me and guess what it was rejected because it wasn't over £250, total bill was £168 btw. Its still £168 I told them! Price shouldn't be a factor!
Anyway... the rattle is back much quieter but I can hear it when cold.
So my question is... should they have changed the chain too? (beacause it may be stretched) the oil and should it have been reprogrammed? I'm getting told it could be the whole timing gear, thats certainly going to be over the £250 threshold.
Or should I be even worrying about a quieter rattle that last 5mins in the morning?
Any feedback on this common issue will be appreciated.
Cheers
