| LED lights stopped working on audio console Hi everyone! I received my 2011 Cooper S today and absolutely love it so far. It is a true joy to drive! I had parked it in the sun for a little while and when I started it again, the rectangular audio display which reads out what station you are on, and what the time is, etc, turned a bright orange and all the words disappeared so the display was just a complete bright orange rectangle. Then, while the car was running, half the display came back correctly with words while the other side continued to be bright orange with no words. Eventually, the whole thing completely blacked out as if it burned out. There were no words and no way to tell what you were doing (although the buttons still worked and you could control volume and change channels; you just didn't know what you were affecting.) I drove it this way for a few minutes, and then parked it again for about 30 minutes and when I re-started it, the audio console display was back to completely normal. Has anyone ever had this experience, or know what might have occurred? I did leave a message for the service department, but now that it seems to have fixed itself it doesn't seem that imperative... thank you in advance! |

| Yes, I'm having exactly the same problem. I bought my car 3 weeks ago and the problem keeps occurring. I took it back in to the service department two hours after picking up my brand new Mini. The next day they called me to say they'd fixed the problem and it wasn't until I picked it up that they told me they had only switched the engine on and since the problem is intermittent and wasn't displaying then, they wouldn't do anything about it (despite the fact that the service guy had observed the problem they day before). The problem is now coming back and I've just got off the phone with the service department. They say that if they test the car and the display comes up normally they won't do anything again. Since I'm having the same problem as you (once the car has been switched off for an hour or so it seems to reset somehow and diplay normally) I can't think how I can actually get my car fixed! The customer service I've got so far is crap and they don't seem willing to do anything to resolve the situation. Anybody else had the same problem and maybe got further with their service department? I just want my brand new Mini to work properly!!! |
