Button under bonnet pressed - now wierd humming noise from engine

Hi,

My boyfriend pushed a button under my mini cooper d bonnet, when the hood was open, it is located near the fuse box but looks as if it is mounted near the left hinge of the bonnet (if you were sitting in it)

Immediately after him pressing this button the car started making this weird high pitched humming noise, does anyone know what this button does?

Thanks,

grace

I'd rather push my mini than drive a ford or anything french..

Criteria for buying a diesel..1)long journeys.2)motorway miles.3)minimum 14k mls per yr..

Thanks for the welcome, yes that's the one, I'm pretty sure its done nothing to the car, but thought I would check it out, couldn't find what it does anywhere.

The similar button under my bonnet still has the original Mini label, which says "Energise Passenger Ejector Seat".....

Same label on mine except I think yours is torn because mine adds 'De-energise sunroof'
