How much should I expect to pay to have the water housing replaced? - MINI Cooper Forum

I recently discovered the coolant on my Mini Cooper (55Reg) was way too low. I've taken it to a local garage and they said they've found a leak - not major - but not good all the same. They've recommended I have the water housing replaced. I asked them how much and they gave me the standard whistle through the teeth and said they really couldn't tell me off the hoof as it was a BMW part that they don't often order. Can anyone give me any advice on how much is a reasonable amount to pay - I know labour will be on top. Forwarned is forearmed!

I presume you mean the thermostat housing which is a common Mini fault?

Price of the part or parts required can be obtained by phoning or visiting your local Mini dealers spare parts department.
