Hi

It sounds like you may have a bad thermostate or the cooling system needs bleeding alittle more

Sound like you still have air in the system. Needs bleeding if that is the fault.

If you have poor mpg , that is a sign of sticking thermostat.

Tab

Some times new parts can be faulty unfortunately these things happen not all the time but it's sods law
but Before you go down that road make shore the system is properly bled.

Hi,

This is the exact same problem i was having , car idle then temp gauge was normal but start driving and it would go down , also the in car heating was not as hot as it should have been while driving, turned out to be a faulty thermostat that was staying open a touch thus allowing the coolant through when it was not required. It is correct about it being a pig to get all the air out! but i will say that this was my case but my temp gauge and heating was working 100% when thermostat was changed! it was my coolant level that was showing low until all the air was out and is now reading normal but as i say once thermostat was changed my temp gauge has been normal and not going up and down as it did. Hope this helps.
