Scotland Rear Washer Wierdness

Hi folks,

First post here so be nice please..

On the way into work this morning i tried to operate the rear washer on my 08 Cooper S. To my surprise the front washers came on while the rear wiper worked No water came out the rear washer though.
It was pretty cold, minus 3C, so maybe something has frozen (hopefully)

Has anyone experience this one before?

Thanks

Hi,

It very well could be the cold but then the front washer would also be blocked as they feed from same tank if i am correct, i am not sure if the rear wiper is the same on your as older mini but don't see why not, so your rear wiper may just be blocked, you can open up the end of the rear wiper and check blockage in nozel, this can be cleaned with a paper clip, if you don't see any blockage then try rear washer again, if you see a jet of water then the blockage will be in the plastic cap attached to the rear wiper, you can use a paper clip to clear out any gunk.

I suspect the relay...it signals the pump motor to work in reverse for the rear wiper.

Thanks for the replies, I'll check for blockages and if that's not the cause then it's a visit to the garage probably.

Just went and checked again and it now works. I gave the rear nozzle a wipe beforehand, but the outside temperature is a bit warmer as well. Random..
