Exclamation 2007 MCS juddering after filling up with petrol.

Hi,

I've had my 2007 mini cooper s for two weeks. On first filling (from the non BMW dealership I purchased the car from) a mile on (from purchase gave enough petrol to get down the road to fill up ) the car was fine.

I drove the car from Buckinghamshire to Newport, S Wales. On the second petrol filling, on starting the car, the car juddered, almost shaking and as if it was struggling to keep going (still parked on the forecourt, not being driven) and practically to the point of nearly cutting out.

On the third filling the car did not experience the juddering but more of slight tremble.

The car came with a modification - timing chain tensioner, and I'm mentioning it in case this may be a relevant cause or not.

I was told by the dealership I purchased the car from that the car has superunleaded. On leaving the dealership, the petrol station down the road only had unleaded as the superunleaded was capped off.

I have also found the local petrol stations have capped off their superunleaded. I've filled the car up (though not fully on the last three occasions with unleaded as I've been unable to source superunleaded.

Is anyone able to advise please?

Many thanks

What petrol station did you first fuel up at? There have been a few store petrol stations recently where agency drivers have put diesel in the petrol tank and petrol in the diesel. A quick call to their customer service line usually sorts things out.

Also if a petrol station allows their underground fuel tanks to run down too low before a tanker delivery, it sometimes happens that the last few customers get water delivered in with their petrol.........if you can prove this they are liable to compensate you for the problems caused or cost of draining your tank.

Hi,

Thank you for your responses. I have taken the mini back today to the dealership I bought it from a week ago in regard to several issues/faults the car has to be sorted in the next week and mentioned this juddering to them today. It appears that there also may have been some dirt/debris in the petrol I put into the tank on filling hence the juddering. I was advised to fill the car tank every other four fills with superunleaded.

Kind regards
