DIY 2010 Mini Cooper S starting up problem

Hey guys, i have a 2010 Mini Cooper S and she has been having problem starting up from time to time. So what happens is right after i start the car, the idel will drop down to 500 or less then dies. There are times when the rpm will jump back up to normal and the engine will keep running. And this only happens when the engine is warmed up, say after a 15 mins drive, i parked the car for 5 mins, and when i come back to start the car, it will have problem starting up. During a cold start, the car starts up perfectly fine. Have any of you guys encounter this problem before? Thanks.

never seen that. my best guess will be a high pressure fuel pump. i did see a similar problem in a bmw 550. what happens is the engine gets hot after driving and when you turn it off for a period of time the heat will boil the fuel in the lines, causing it to vaporlock. to fix that i wrapped the fuel line with a foil like material to keep the heat away. if you still have warranty take it to your dealer and explain the problem.

Not familiar with the problem myself but if your MCS is 2010 plate you Gould have a lovely warranty to assist in fixing this :-) I would make the dealership aware instantly and keep a very close eye on it as any other issues in this area you have a good base to stand on and push with the dealership. Last thin you want is further issues down the line because they could say you never told them during the warranty period.
