DIY Central Locking issue

Hi all

I had an intermittant problem with the key fob on my 2007 cooper. It would only open the doors after a number of presses. Now it will not open them at all.

I have tried both fobs and neither work. I can only get into the car by either using the hidden key and setting the alarm off or by opening the windows with the key, reaching in to insert the key in the dash to disable the alam then opening the door.

The keys start the car fine.

When I first purchased the car the front screen had a leak and this dripped down the rear view mirror all supposidly fixed by mini (the radio stopped working), this was over a year ago and everything was fine in that time.

Any ideas what the problem could be and if it could be relaed to the leak would I have a claim against Mini as they admitted selling the car with the non mini leaking front screen.

Thanks

The central locking works fine with the button on the centre console or with the key in the lock. There are no other faults, the fob turns off the alarm / starts the car ok.

Are you sure theres nothing locally changed blocking or interfering the signal from the key?
Mobile phone masts, taxi ranks, etc can cause signal blocking at certain times, had it myself in one particular area, that was a mast causing it?
