No beeping beep!

Sorry if this is an old topic.
When I activate the central locking on my 2007 Cooper there's no beep... just the clunk of the locks. Should it beep?
Yours beeplessly
Mark

Mine doesn't beep either, it only locks and blinkers flash. The manual says under the tach settings I can change it to beep and flash, but my car only has the option to flash, or nothing at all; no beep option. I have an 07 MCS too.

I wanna beep too.

Mine is the same. 2007 MCS no bleep, just flash of indicators and the clunk. Is it something we should be able to turn on then?

No beeps available on UK cars, just a clunk click and a quick flash.
Beeping considered anti social, especially in the early hours.

If you are concerned about not waking your neighbours up with the sound of your car beeping, maybe you could just get into the habit of locking your car and then shouting, "My car is now locked". I'm sure that this will be equally annoying.

It doesnt need to make any noise at all really does it? or shout even, as long as you have the indication, and the indicators flash do that.

If you really want your car to make a noise you could always fit a "Warning this vehicle is reversing" voice.

Clunk and flash is the norm - can't remember the last time I had a car which actually beeped when I locked or unlocked it?

If anything, on a quiet car park, a loud beep only alerts people to the fact that you've UNLOCKED a car and have the keys... which is something I'd rather not draw attention to!

I don't really care either way, it's just weird that the manual in the car says you have the option to put the beep on, and shows you how to. Whatever. I have more important things to be concerned about. Like an exhaust.
