justa cooper '57 (r56) clutch/flywheel

Hey Guys.

Sorted out the cooper, it's a cherished BMW - on the test drive i noticed the clutch judder and was informed this would be swapped, however my question is, should the flywheel be changed as well? For the friction plate to warp surely there has been a lot of heat there, which can't be good for the flywheel? Car has 36k on it...

At the moment they are just replacing the clutch.

You cant really guess what needed until its taken apart.
It might be oil contamination, that will cause judder? did they say it had warped?
Also judder on take up can be due to worn engine mounts and its the engine moving causing the judder not the clutch.
Sure it wasnt a learner driver car previously??

Hey,

with 36k on an 57 i doubt it The clutch is being done under warranty so i'm not paying out thankfully.

The judder was very minor, i diagnosed it as a release bearing at the time, but i was unaware of the issues these face.

As it's being sorted by MINI if it was oil contamination i suspect they would be correcting that too.
