I have a really strange problem with my clutch and have decided to try bleeding it before pursuing more expensive solutions (the clutch is new, about 25,000km on it). I am not clear on the bleed process and can't afford to mess it up. I only have one car and am located in the countryside.
The new clutch kit is all OEM and neither the slave nor master cylinders have been replaced. There is currently fluid in the lines.
So, a number of questions:
1.) how much fluid should I plan to have on hand to attempt this?
2.) When bleeding, do I compress the clutch pedal first, THEN open the bleed valve, let fluid out and then close the valve
...OR...
3.) do I keep the bleed valve open as I push the clutch then close the valve once the clutch pedal is fully depressed?
4.) How many times should I repeat the process?
5.) How much fluid do I expect to come out on each bleed and will it be messy?
6.) Is it true that the bleed valve is plastic? (Car is a 2009 Clubman D with the same 6-speed Getrag and clutch setup as the R56)
Thanks!
