How do I change number plate bulbs to LED without snapping the plastic?

I recently swapped my number plate bulbs to LED and snapped the plastic that holds them in whilst doing so. A few weeks later it ended up shorting a circuit probably due to water getting in.

I ended up having to pay Mini over 100 to replace the whole unit and repaint it which was a major ****take as Im now back where I started with dull yellow lights

I initially gave up and left them yellow for a bit but I really hate the way they look and want the BMW white look again.

How can I replace these bulbs without snapping the fragile plastic that hold them inside, so I can swap them to LED?

Not sure how you managed to snap anything as the covers for the number plate lights just pop out but they do have a clip at the one side that you have to push towards the centre this allows the cover to be removed. I swapped mine to led type no problem. I also have replaced all my interior lights to led with the BMW led pack. I do have a post on here about when I did it. :-)
