Smile What is normal tick over on a 2004 cooper

Hi, new to this, so I'm not sure if I'm doing this in the right place or what, I love my 2004 cvt cooper, owned it for a month, hubby seems to think its ticking over too high at 1000, compared to some other cars we have owned in the past that have been around the 750 mark, hearing conflicting opinions on this from different machanics, and people that think they are.... Like to know what fellow mini peeps think...

Hi,
Mine ticks over around the 750/800rpm mark, maybe the cold start is stuck on or someone has put a mod chip in it, as some make the car think its running cold all the time.

It should tickover faster when started from cold, if it ticks over at the same speed when its warmed up then what dasher says is right

Thankyou, someone said to me that it drops when the cat gets to temperature, does this sound right?
