MCS Clubman Timing Chain/Tensioner

Hi guys,

My very first post on mini2 was a short while ago and I'm pleased to say that I am now the proud owner of a 2008 Mini Cooper S Clubman!

I'm over the moon with it and it drives like a dream; pretty powerful too.

However, after just a few days of whizzing around in it I kept hearing a bizarre noise coming from the exhaust when in the lower gears....almost like a dump valve sound when changing gears. Then I heard a fair old racket from the engine and didn't think it sounded quite right.

After looking on various forums, I noticed a raft of people talking about timing chains/tensioners on certain models....including mine

I put it into my local mini dealership to have a look at and their early prognosis was indeed the chain and/or the tensioner. If it's just the tensioner then 330 and I haven't got a clue what the timing chain will set me back if it is the worst case scenario!?

I've read about mini owners getting a good will gesture from BMW/Mini because it's a known fault but I wouldn't know where to start..

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Ben
