Water pump/Tensioner/Idle wheel

Hi Ladies and Gents

Got a 1.4 First and just put a New engine in it - Bent Con Rod due to being Driven through a puddle/Lake

Swapped the water pump , "tensioner/Idler" over and the Alternator and Bottom Pulley from the Original Engine

Gone to put the Drive belt on for the Alternator and it Feels "tight"

Ran it up and it eaten the outer belt off the Water pump pulley - Any ideas why ?

Do these "contract" when removed ?

You need to check all the pulleys that are running on the same belt are all exactly in line, if they are misaligned at all this can lead to a noisy belt and excessive belt wear.
