Warning symbol

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help. I have a mini cooper 2008 model and I had a warning light appear on the dash...it was a picture of a fuel pump with a oil drop in it...it only appears when i switch on the car and disappears shortly after....is there any reason for major concern or do you think the car is still drivable.
Hope I posted in the right section.

Is it the oil pressure warning light you mean, warning lights will come on until the engine starts normally its like a self check? But have you checked the oil level on the dipstick? it will need topping up between services normally and it should be checked weekly and kept up between the two marks.
The oil the dealer puts in at the service, wont last until the next one, unless you do very very few miles, without checking it.

hi

I haven't check the oil but I can do...I could not find this symbol anywhere...I have uploaded a pic. It is not the fuel as the gauge still shows plenty of fuel and I only just filled up today.

Not seen that before either, is your car petrol or diesel?
If its diesel it may mean the additive tank is low, dont really know.
Maybe someone else will know here.

The oil pressure light will be on when you first turn the key but before you start it (because there is no oil pressure with
the engine off), but should go off within a second after cranking and starting the car.

I don't think you put any additives into modern diesels, at least not in Europe. Now that is a mysterious dash light... Have never seen that either.

The diesel MINI has an additive tank fitted under the car, it last so long and then it has to be replaced, its a dealer fit, its not something you put in yourself at the pumps.
