Hi. I have a 58 plate Cooper. It's great, except the boot won't open manually and it takes at least ten presses on the key fob to get it to open. I would appreciate any ideas! Thanks guys!
Ive got this issue on my 08 Cooper for me its a failure in the tailgate handle button. Shame its integral to the handle and its not just the switch that can be replaced
Yes previous posters are correct, it is water ingress into the boot release, called a grip strip. It corrodes the micro switch and becomes inoperable. The parts do not come separately, it is an entire grip strip. They are easy to replace yourself, open the boot, pop off the liner then unscrew the four T20 screws that hold the grip strip on. Disconnect the small electrical connector (make sure you don't lose it in the tailgate!) and install the new grip strip in reverse of removal.
HI can anyone tell if the 2008 mini has a leaver to open the boot inside the car? I can't find one anywhere.
Also my after opening my boot I can only close it if I push the button on the key again otherwise it won't latch at all. Is this normal?
Please help
