Bad trannsmission?

I have a 2007 mini cooper, non s, with the automatic 6 speed in there. nothing special about the car its base line pretty much and also has about 95,000 miles on it. The car today took a crap on my wife going to work. Engine still runes fine, sounds good. But when she was speeding up on her foot went to the ground and it just reved. So she safely (thank god) got to a parking lot by coasting, and when it gets put into park it makes a terrible screeching or knocking i guess sound. So bad transmission? or maybe just the pump in the tranny? Im no car expert here might i add im no car expert here.
