Hello,
We just bought a 2008 Clubman 1.6 Auto on the weekend. When we test-drove it a week ago it was ok but when we picked it up it was making a loud humming/buzzing noise that increases with vehicle speed. It is not related to engine RPM. I have the front wheels up on jack stands and am trying to diagnose it.
Originally I thought it might be a wheel bearing or CV shaft. Now I'm thinking it might be coming from the trans/differential. Has anyone had a similar issue? I am waiting for someone to come home so I can listen to it under the car in gear. I've uploaded a clip to Youtube but it won't let me post the link (newbie).
If you search gS4zt3iZpgM in Youtube it will come up.
